    Description

    Hi Folks,
So here we have what I would call a "core" truck for sale.
Perfect for the person who likes to work with a light wire welder and likes to restore cars and trucks. Honestly, all of you looking at this ad know MORE about this truck than even I do. It has been here on the property for at least 10 years and has not run in at least 5. I had hoped to restore it but somewhere along the path, age got the better of me, and you realize you just do not have what it takes anymore to do a full body restoration or even consider the work involved to part it out and sell the parts individually.
Last summer, one of the local thieves stole the radiator and the probably dead battery's out of her so that is when I decided it is time for her to go. My property is too big to watch over it all anymore at this age.
She was good to me when she ran from maybe 2005 to maybe 2011/12.
She ran very strong, mo engine knocks, no trans popping out of gear. and that dually rear would take me just about anywhere around here.
I bought it primarily to use the cable winch to drag logs up the hills and out of the woods of my property.
It was cheaper to use than buying an ALL-TERRAIN Log Skidder.
I do not have a current registration for it. Never did. It was payment for a debt due me and it was a property truck before I got it.
I would have to go across my property and look one of these days, I think I remember the mileage was quite low for the age of the truck. Maybe 50 thousand something or other.
This vehicle was built before TITLES were issued in NY state after 1973 so they only need a reg to make them street legal but you could just go the antique route and do your own reg and serial number.
Since I accepted it as a property ONLY truck (I have 15 acres over here) I never really much cared about a registration simply due to the trucks age and I had the reg at one time to transfer it, but I never did put the truck in my name and have since misplaced the reg with no hope of finding it.
In NYS there is a form I think called a MV-15 which will make it easy to get legal paperwork for it. You might not even need that because the truck is over 46 yrs old
And, I believe, once something is unregistered in the NY on the DMV computers for 5 years, the data is expunged so you can just start fresh by a pencil rub of the truck ID plate.
    THE GOOD:
I want to say it is a 360 or a 390ci motor and it is backed up by a perfectly functional 3 or 4 speed (I forget cuz I never got out of first or 2nd gear on the property) and a perfectly good rear end with a winch that is PTO /Lever controlled and the extendable boom that is manual by pulling pins and re-setting them in the next hole and there is probably 100 feet of cable on the spool give or take. I never ever needed more than 20 or 30 feet of it to connect to long 1/2 inch chains
The front push bumper I have already been offered a lot of money to just cut off and sell it to someone but I refused. I wanted to sell the truck COMPLETE. The tires are still holding air and probably will be fine to get on your trailer.
When the truck was running, everything worked as it should have. I just got too old to keep cutting and trimming trees. And then I got older and realized about 5 years ago that I was to old to want to restore 15 to 20 vehicle Projects scattered all over the property here so they will slowly be coming for sale either here or my local craig s list.
THE BAD: The truck has a lot of floor rust on the drivers side, so bad it is almost like a Fred Flintstone mobile. I think the cab will probably need a complete new floor pan and maybe rear cab mounts. The rest of the truck can be fixed with tin and diamond plate.
The bottom of the drivers door is bad but the door glass and window frames are fine just like the windshield with no breaks or cracks that I noticed or remember.
That's why I said this is vehicle would make someone a great "core or parts" truck or maybe even a good winter father/son project to restore. Who knows.
The Holmes body does have some small spot rust in it bed of it but it was obviously made from thicker steel than the cab body so it was much less likely to rust and it shows.
THIS VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVEABLE. IT MUST BE TOWED OR TRAILERED OFF THE PROPERTY.
Overall, I am just on a mission to try to come close to a break even point in this truck but at the same time hopefully someone will want to put some TLC into the old girl and get her going again.
Please feel free to ask any questions although I do not know how good I will be at answering them.
My buy it now price is based in part in the payment I accepted waaay back when and also in part on what I am seeing other vehicles priced at in a similar condition and what the Holmes Bodies ALONE are selling for individually (W/O a truck under it) on Ebay.
I am offering the Best Offer feature as well so the truck can find a home with someone looking for an inexpensively priced "project". Please feel free to throw me some realistic and reasonable numbers. And NO, the truck is NOT available for "scrap" money so don't waste yours or my time with low ball offers. They will be automatically refused.
And as always, I must retain the right to end the auction early if the vehicle becomes unavailable during the auction period.
And as always if you are a potential buyer with less than 5 positive feedbacks to your name, please "contact seller" first.
And as always this vehicle is being sold "as-is, where- is" with NO warranties expressed or implied.
Thanks for reading about the truck and may the best offer win.
