    Description

This listing is for an exceptionally solid and very straight 1983 Pontiac Firebird 2 door hardtop that can be restored. It would also make a superb parts car if you have a rusty 1982 - 1992 Firebird, Trans-Am or Chevrolet Camaro with a good drivetrain that needs a better body. Sporty older cars like this are getting very hard to find in as nice of condition as this car is. The following is from Wikipedia for your information:
The Firebird and Camaro were completely redesigned for the 1982 model year, with the windshield slope set at 62 degrees, (about 3 degrees steeper than anything GM had ever tried before), and for the first time, a large, glass-dominated hatchback that required no metal structure to support it. Two concealed pop-up headlights, a first on the F-Body cars, were the primary characteristic that distinguished the 3rd Gen Firebird from both its Camaro sibling and its prior form (a styling characteristic carried into the 4th Gen's design). In addition to being about 500 pounds (230 kg) lighter than the previous 2nd Gen design, the 3rd Generation Firebird was the most aerodynamic product GM had ever released. Wind tunnels were used to form the new F-Body platform's shape, and Pontiac took full advantage of it. The aerodynamic developments extended to the finned aluminum wheels with smooth hubcaps and a functional rear spoiler.
I am listing this for a friend who has about 200 cars from the 1950's through the mid-1970's that should be saved rather than crushed. I will try to list several of them here every month. I am starting with a few Oldsmobiles that I had a chance to clean the floors on a few months ago. I also plan to list a 1965 Starfire hardtop, a 1965 Starfire convertible body with a rusty front frame, a 1966 Toronado as well as a white 1977 or 1978 Toronado XS with the large wrap around rear window soon here on eBay.
This car is for sale locally so please do not delay if you are at all serious about owning this car. This car was retired from use and started to be parted out 2 years ago. It appears that someone needed a left door window glass so they removed the left door and door panel to get the glass out and never put the door back on the car. The four original wheels that are shown are included. I am sorry that the hood that is shown in one photo leaning on the van located behind this car appears to have been sold after these photos were taken last fall.
The engine, transmission, hood, front seats and perhaps some lesser parts are missing. The entire front suspension assembly was removed but never sold so it is still with this car but will need to be re-installed. No idiot has ever jumped on the roof of this car so that is at least a ,000 bonus if you were to hire a caved in roof fixed by a professional body man.
There are some small rust blisters forming behind both of the rear wheel openings but I can find no other rust issues on this car. I have not yet looked inside the trunk and will try to the next time I am where this car is located here in Montana.
Please remember, this is a Montana car where we get an average annual moisture amount (including snow) of 12" or less. A car like this has been neglected for many years with the doors open or missing, windows down or missing and the trunk lid open or missing. Consequently a car like this will tend to rust from the top down rather than from the bottom up as cars do in the wetter parts of this country.
This car comes with good transferable Montana paper work. A fork lift is available to help load this "gem in the rough". I may be able to arrange safe and economical delivery depending on where you live and how soon you want this car. I may add more information as the days go by so please check this listing every couple of days or so. Thanks a lot, Bob Woodburn in Bozeman Montana USA
