Addressed to a Law Firm headed by Mr. Hugh Scott Reid Esq. in Wentworth (or Reidsville) N. Carolina
His Firm at the time was Reid, Reid & Reid and had offices in Reidsville where he was a prominent Citizen, I believe they also had an office in near by Wentworth, NC
This is one of three Covers (Each listed Separately) mailed in the months of May and July 1882 from the Railroad Officers to the Reid Law Firm.
The Cover has no contents. Only one of the three covers has the year 1882 in the cancel.
The stamp is the 3 Cent Green Washington National Bank Note issue of 1870-1888 and are either Scott # 158 or 184

The road was opened in April, 1882.
The road is operated by the Richmond & Danville Railroad Company.
This company was chartered for the purpose of constructing a railroad from some point on the Virginia State line in the county of Rockingham, through the counties of Rockingham, Stokes, Forsyth, Guilford, Davidson, Davie, Rowan, Iredell, Catawba, Lincoln, Cleveland, Mecklenburg, Gaston and Union to a point on the South Carolina State line, and also through the counties of Surry, Yadkin, Wilkes, Caldwell, Watauga, Mitchell, Burke, McDowell, Yancey, Buncombe, Madison, Haywood, Jackson, and Swain to the Tennessee State line, or through such of said counties as the company might deem proper.
